Halala Award Nominations 2012
For those of you who do not know, the Halala Awards
were established in 2008. They are given in recognition of projects and people
who have made an innovative, inventive and inspirational impact to the
regeneration of Johannesburg’s city centre’s architect and form. In partnership
with City of Joburg and the JDA, these Awards, offer city wide recognition to
individuals, developments, projects and programmes by an industry related
Past Experiences was nominated for one award and Jo Buitendach our founder and
Passionate Inner City Lover was nominated for the BELIEVING IN JOBURG – THE
STAN NKOSI ACHIEVEMENT AWARD which “Recognises those who champion the
regeneration of Joburg InnerCity”
Nothing describes the role of those who have consciously remained, sustained or reinvented the life of the inner city as
well as those who have maintained belief in the heart of Jozi when nobody else
did. In honouring the late JDA Chairman, Mr. Stan Nkosi, this category
recognises those who display the same degree of commitment, mirror his
developmental values and share his allegiance to sustaining the city as the “home
of innovators, investors and implementers”.
Although we did not win, we are absolutely so proud to be nominated in both categories
and against so many awesome project, companies and people. It was an honour to
be nominated and compete against major regeneration companies and people that
have been involved with the city for decades and made such a positive change.
The Stand Nkosi Award when to the Plit Brothers from AFHCO who have done some
wonderful Inner City Work for many years. We love their work and congratulate
Also a huge congrats to a few of our Inner City Friends who did win: Hotel Lamunu in
Braamfontein and the Urban Arts Platform at the Ansteys Building.
We cant wait until next year and we thank all our friends, fans, clients and the Jozi
Inner City for their continued support.
